» Family Matters
Family breakdown is an extremely difficult and emotional
time. We recognise that having to consult a solicitor can
seem daunting and stressful and our aim is to make the experience
as painless as possible. Barbara will provide you with expert
legal advice aiming to achieve the best settlement for you
while maintaining a non-confrontational approach where possible.
Financial Issues:
We will guide you through the procedure involved in separating
and ultimately, if appropriate, divorce. We will explain how
the law relating to the division of your financial assets,
including property, business and pensions applies to your
individual situation. Where possible we will resolve your
dispute without the need for court action, but where necessary
we will take your case to court in order to ensure a satisfactory
outcome. Court actions can be unpleasant and expensive, and
generally the best way to resolve a dispute of this nature
is by careful, thorough and effective negotiation leading
to a satisfactory solution.
Children:
Disputes about where children should live and how much contact
the other parent should have can be one of the most demanding
issues arising from separation. It is our job to deal with
such disputes with understanding and objectivity. It is essential
in such disputes to recognise that most parents want what
is best for their own children, although unfortunately both
parents do not always agree on what this is. We therefore
strive to achieve a solution to any such dispute which is
satisfactory both to the parents involved and the child. Where
necessary we will take such matters to court if a negotiated
settlement does not prove possible.
Emergency Procedures:
We can provide a speedy and effective service in assisting
clients who require emergency help from situations of domestic
violence or financial difficulties by way of obtaining emergency
court orders providing protection from aggressive conduct
and to obtain financial assistance.
